As adults we tend to lose the playfulness we had as kids. We tend to be too serious and tend to lose our imagination. We forget to think out of the box. Everyday I am amazed at the answers my 5 year old gives me. He is thinking out of the box. We come with that ability but somehow after living in society for some years we tend to be boxed in.

If you have started a blog, and you want to be different then I invite you to read how to make your blog stand out.

Happy reading!

In my  last post I wrote about steps to start a blog.  But before starting your blog as anything in life we need to plan what we want to get out of that blog. This will give us a better chance of succeeding. I know what you may be thinking, there are lots of people that start their blog and do not plan anything. And I am guilty of this myself. But we all know that the better we plan everything in life the greater the chances of succeeding. We normally do not get in our car and decide to drive without knowing our destination.   The same applies to blogging. Believe me I have been guilty of this, and my blog has not advanced as quickly as I wanted, but I am a firm believer that everything happens at the right time.

So when I say we need to plan our blog there are a couple of things we need to decide on:

  1. Is my blog my  business. Is my business blogging, or do I have an actual business and I use the blog to interact with clients and market the business. Generally many people start blogging on something that interests them, like a hobby, a philosophy or just as a way to express themselves. With time the blog becomes successful and then they go onto earning money from  the blog and some become  full time bloggers.   Others, just keep blogging but are not really interested in becoming full time bloggers or they do not even bother with the monetization of the blog.  A third group is the people that have an offline business but want to use blogging to expand their business and interact with their customers.
  2. Then you need to decide what type of blogging software you will use (refer to my previous post for this) and our domain name which needs to be strategically chosen.
  3. Obviously if it is a new blog and business or if you are blogging for fum you need to decide what you are going  to blog about. If you are doing it for fun is one thing, but if you are planning  to create a business then you need to research the subject and be sure that there is an interest out there. There needs to be a tribe as they call it. Who will be your target market?
  4. What is your blog mission and vision?
  5. Then we need to think on how often you will blog. The more often you do the faster your traffic will increase. Ideally you should blog daily but if not a minimum of twice a week.
  6. What strategies will you use to create traffic, how will you create backlinks?  Are you going to use articles, are you going to visit regularly other blogs where you will leave your comments? How much time will you spend in these activities?
  7. Are you going to have guests writers in your blog? Will you contact other bloggers to post in their blogs?
  8. Are you going to use social media to increase your traffic? How much time will you spend in social media? What applications will you use: Twitter, Facebook, etc?
  9. How are you going to monetize your blog? Are you planning to create products to sell? Maybe interviewing interesting people, or creating a e-course, or maybe selling other products, or recommending other people products.
  10. Are you going to let other people advertise in your blog.

The better prepared you are with a plan, and the more focused you are,  the greater the success. Just take teh time to learn about this points and decide what your strategy will be. It may take some time now, but it will save you time later.  In some instances there are bootcamps or courses that help you define all of this. The great thing about these bootcamps is that you are not alone. It is like a Mastermind group where you can interact with lots of people in the same situation and get feedback from them. You also increase your network. I have come to realize that without a network we do not go far. Networking is a subject for another post, but participating of this bootcmaps, gives you a chance of networking which could help expanding your business just as in the offline world. Leo Babauta’s bootcamp is a great place to learn more about blogging and to get in touch with other bloggers. Leo has attracted over 150000 subscribers in just 2 years for his blog Zen Habits and he is opening the doors to his bootcamp called How to make your blog pay the bills, May 16-20. The enrollment opens on Tuesday May 11 at 12:00pm Eastern time and closes on Sunday May 15 at midnight.  So if you were thinking of starting your blog, maybe this is your opportunity to do it, but if not get at least his free report on how he  got over 100000 subscribers in two years.

If you decide to enroll in his bootcamp through my blog, then I will give you one hour free telephonic coaching session for free. Just email me at andrea [ at] coachtoexcellence.com with your name and details.

Everybody is talking about blogs, and every one wants to have a blog. Blogging has become a normal word in our vocabulary But, what does blog mean? Do you know?
Blog is the short of “Web log”. But what does it mean?

A blog is an interactive web page where the owner of the blog can write their thoughts or experience about a subject, and the readers can comment on it, creating in this way an interactive environment.
Blog have changed the way that the web works. Before we use to have static web sites, which got updated when necessary and probably by a webmaster.
Nowadays with blogs, everyone can create a blog in s short time, and you do not need any technical skills to do so. But what are the benefits of having a blog for your business? Three of the benefits are:.

. The main benefit is that gives you a place where you can interact with potential customers, and where you can show your expertise on your field.
- Your readers get to know you, and that creates a trust relationship, which will reflect in more sales.
- From a technical point of view, every time you write a blog, you can assign new keywords or tags to it. Google will then index your post according to those keywords. Each post will create a new index, therefore your visibility will increase.

Now it is easy to write a blog, and many do it for fun and to express themselves. Many start fir fun and end up making lots of money from them. But if you have a business and want to stay ahead of time, then you have no choice.
If you want to know more about the technicalities of how to create a blog, and increase your visibility, I would recommend a course I took from Yaro Starak Becoming a blogger premium. I can really recommend the course, as it is very comprehensive step by step on how to create a great blog, even if you are technically challenged and Yaro is a very trustworthy and down to earth person.

So now when someone asks you: “What does blog mean?” You can tell them what it stands for and what a blog is becayse you read it. But nothing replaces the actual experience of having a blog. So are you ready to set up yours?

Blogging has become of utmost importance for increasing your company visibility on the internet. But if your idea of building a blog was writing a post and waiting for traffic to come, then you need to think again. With more than 1.4 millions blog posts created each day, you will need to work a bit harder for the traffic to come to your blog. .

So what are some of the actions you can take when building a blog to generate traffic?

1. The blog needs to be as a hub for your web marketing activities. Your blog together with your social media presence and your website needs to have a brand that identifies your business uniqueness

2. You have to create great and unique content. Readers will keep coming back only if your content is good and worth it. If you have great content other bloggers may like it and link it to their blog, which will increase the back links to your blog. This is something that search engines like. The more back links the higher the search engines will rank your blog.

3. When creating a post you need to research the keywords to be used. Keywords are the words that people search for in Google or other search engines. So you need to make sure that the keywords you are using are being searched for. This means that people are looking for information on those keywords. Moreover it is desirable that the competition for those keywords is not high. The more competition the harder will be to feature your blog in the first page of search engines. These keywords need to be used in the post title and permalink, in the first or second paragraph of your post, in the meta-tags and in the tags,

4. Then you need to create more back links to your blog to increase the search engines rank. One of the easiest ways of doing this is by commenting on other blogs. Your blog has a section where readers can comment. You need to do the same with other blogs. So find 10 blogs that are relevant to your product or that are being frequented by your potential target market, and every morning set aside 20 minutes to comment on their post. The comment needs to be relevant and add value. In this manner you will be noticed. Do not just say: “Great article”. Then add your name, email address and URL of your blog. Make sure that your comments are posted early, just beneath the actual post. In general people read only the top comments.

5. Lastly you can syndicate the posts that you write, by submitting the posts into social networks that your target market will frequent. We know about facebook and twitter, but you also need to look for your niche social networks. There are techniques that allow you to submit your blog post directly to these sites, so you do not need to do them manually. This creates more links and exposure to your blog.

In conclusion, blogging is one of the most affordable ways to market your services, but you need to generate the traffic. As mentioned before there are millions of posts created every day. You need to find a way of standing out in your niche market and making your blog work for your business.
