I am sure you have heard the term “affiliate program” or “affiliate marketing”.

In case you do not know what it means, this article will give you an overview.  Affiliate program is an agreement between the vendor of a product or service and a so called affiliate.

You could be wearing either shoe. You could be the vendor of your services or products or you could be the affiliate that will promote other persons products.

So how does it all start?

The vendor has a website with products or services and in the website he encourages affiliates to join the affiliate program, it is free to join an affiliate program.

Once the affiliate joins his role is to drive traffic to the vendor’s site. He can  do this in different ways, some ways are cheaper and some are more expensive.

Once the affiliate drives traffic to the website, depending on the action of the visitor and on the affiliate agreement the affiliate will be paid by the vendor. There are different types of agreements:

The affiliate could be paid:

Per Sale: If the person that visits the vendors site as a result of the affiliate campaign  buys the product or service, then the affiliate will be paid a commission

Per visitor: The affiliate will be paid based on the number of visitors he has sent to the vendor’s site

Per lead: the affiliate will be paid based on the number of people that visit the vendor’s website and give their contact details (email address).

The vendor will provide affiliates with all the marketing material, like banners, emails to send, text links and will provide them with an affiliate link that can used to track the traffic.

The advantage of being an affiliate marketer is that you can earn a commission without having to create a product, worry about websites or dealing directly with customers.

For the vendor the advantage is that he is having a very effective marketing system and at a much affordable cost than in the offline world.

Now to manage an affiliate program involves some work. There needs to be a system in place. There are some companies that would run the system for the vendor, like commission junction or clickbank. They will have a system that keeps track of which affiliate sold a product and they would do the payment on behalf of the vendor. There is a cost involved for the vendor. Besides these two there are other programs depending on your product type and on your country.

Otherwise you can buy software that would help you with the tracking of the affiliate information.  Some examples are Infusionsoft and shopping cart. But you will still need someone to manage it.

In both cases you will still need to provide the marketing material

This is a general overview of the affiliate program. Please give me some feedback if you found this article useful and please post any questions you may have.

The law of cause and effect states that every action produces a result directly proportional to the action that caused it. This means an action produces a reaction proportional to the action. It is very similar to the law of attraction; whatever we focus on is what we get. This law acts daily in our lives. If we have a positive thought then we will get something positive, but if we have a negative thought we will get something negative.

How does this apply to Internet marketing? A very popular strategy in internet marketing and a difficult one to understand at the beginning is to give free information. We think that if we give free information we are losing money. It does not work like that in internet marketing. There is plenty of free information available on the Internet. When you give free information you probably are winning new clients. If the information you give is quality information, the potential client will probably buy products from you in the future.

How can you give free information? You could do so by publishing articles on your blog, or we could write an eBook. We could have his eBook and offer it to the person if they give you their email address. In this manner we already have their contact details to keep in touch with them, build a relationship and in future offer other products.

Another way of applying the law of cause and effect is that if you look after your potential clients, you build and maintain a relationship through your blog or through newsletters; the person is going to remember you.

You also need to be different. Lots of people are teaching the same skills. If you are different the potential client will remember you. You give more by being different and as a result you will get more.

At the same time it is important that the potential clients or clients get to know you personally. In reality they do not know you, but it is important to establish this relationship through the interaction in the blog, through videos and audio. The more they feel they know you, the more they will buy from you.  You must not miss the point. You must not be false with the client. The point here is what I give to the universe and what I get in return. It is like a boomerang that always returns.

Can you see how we can apply the laws to anything in life? I would love to hear your ideas about this.

As adults we tend to lose the playfulness we had as kids. We tend to be too serious and tend to lose our imagination. We forget to think out of the box. Everyday I am amazed at the answers my 5 year old gives me. He is thinking out of the box. We come with that ability but somehow after living in society for some years we tend to be boxed in.

If you have started a blog, and you want to be different then I invite you to read how to make your blog stand out.

Happy reading!

In my  last post I wrote about steps to start a blog.  But before starting your blog as anything in life we need to plan what we want to get out of that blog. This will give us a better chance of succeeding. I know what you may be thinking, there are lots of people that start their blog and do not plan anything. And I am guilty of this myself. But we all know that the better we plan everything in life the greater the chances of succeeding. We normally do not get in our car and decide to drive without knowing our destination.   The same applies to blogging. Believe me I have been guilty of this, and my blog has not advanced as quickly as I wanted, but I am a firm believer that everything happens at the right time.

So when I say we need to plan our blog there are a couple of things we need to decide on:

  1. Is my blog my  business. Is my business blogging, or do I have an actual business and I use the blog to interact with clients and market the business. Generally many people start blogging on something that interests them, like a hobby, a philosophy or just as a way to express themselves. With time the blog becomes successful and then they go onto earning money from  the blog and some become  full time bloggers.   Others, just keep blogging but are not really interested in becoming full time bloggers or they do not even bother with the monetization of the blog.  A third group is the people that have an offline business but want to use blogging to expand their business and interact with their customers.
  2. Then you need to decide what type of blogging software you will use (refer to my previous post for this) and our domain name which needs to be strategically chosen.
  3. Obviously if it is a new blog and business or if you are blogging for fum you need to decide what you are going  to blog about. If you are doing it for fun is one thing, but if you are planning  to create a business then you need to research the subject and be sure that there is an interest out there. There needs to be a tribe as they call it. Who will be your target market?
  4. What is your blog mission and vision?
  5. Then we need to think on how often you will blog. The more often you do the faster your traffic will increase. Ideally you should blog daily but if not a minimum of twice a week.
  6. What strategies will you use to create traffic, how will you create backlinks?  Are you going to use articles, are you going to visit regularly other blogs where you will leave your comments? How much time will you spend in these activities?
  7. Are you going to have guests writers in your blog? Will you contact other bloggers to post in their blogs?
  8. Are you going to use social media to increase your traffic? How much time will you spend in social media? What applications will you use: Twitter, Facebook, etc?
  9. How are you going to monetize your blog? Are you planning to create products to sell? Maybe interviewing interesting people, or creating a e-course, or maybe selling other products, or recommending other people products.
  10. Are you going to let other people advertise in your blog.

The better prepared you are with a plan, and the more focused you are,  the greater the success. Just take teh time to learn about this points and decide what your strategy will be. It may take some time now, but it will save you time later.  In some instances there are bootcamps or courses that help you define all of this. The great thing about these bootcamps is that you are not alone. It is like a Mastermind group where you can interact with lots of people in the same situation and get feedback from them. You also increase your network. I have come to realize that without a network we do not go far. Networking is a subject for another post, but participating of this bootcmaps, gives you a chance of networking which could help expanding your business just as in the offline world. Leo Babauta’s bootcamp is a great place to learn more about blogging and to get in touch with other bloggers. Leo has attracted over 150000 subscribers in just 2 years for his blog Zen Habits and he is opening the doors to his bootcamp called How to make your blog pay the bills, May 16-20. The enrollment opens on Tuesday May 11 at 12:00pm Eastern time and closes on Sunday May 15 at midnight.  So if you were thinking of starting your blog, maybe this is your opportunity to do it, but if not get at least his free report on how he  got over 100000 subscribers in two years.

If you decide to enroll in his bootcamp through my blog, then I will give you one hour free telephonic coaching session for free. Just email me at andrea [ at] coachtoexcellence.com with your name and details.

Everybody is talking about blogs, and every one wants to have a blog. Blogging has become a normal word in our vocabulary But, what does blog mean? Do you know?
Blog is the short of “Web log”. But what does it mean?

A blog is an interactive web page where the owner of the blog can write their thoughts or experience about a subject, and the readers can comment on it, creating in this way an interactive environment.
Blog have changed the way that the web works. Before we use to have static web sites, which got updated when necessary and probably by a webmaster.
Nowadays with blogs, everyone can create a blog in s short time, and you do not need any technical skills to do so. But what are the benefits of having a blog for your business? Three of the benefits are:.

. The main benefit is that gives you a place where you can interact with potential customers, and where you can show your expertise on your field.
- Your readers get to know you, and that creates a trust relationship, which will reflect in more sales.
- From a technical point of view, every time you write a blog, you can assign new keywords or tags to it. Google will then index your post according to those keywords. Each post will create a new index, therefore your visibility will increase.

Now it is easy to write a blog, and many do it for fun and to express themselves. Many start fir fun and end up making lots of money from them. But if you have a business and want to stay ahead of time, then you have no choice.
If you want to know more about the technicalities of how to create a blog, and increase your visibility, I would recommend a course I took from Yaro Starak Becoming a blogger premium. I can really recommend the course, as it is very comprehensive step by step on how to create a great blog, even if you are technically challenged and Yaro is a very trustworthy and down to earth person.

So now when someone asks you: “What does blog mean?” You can tell them what it stands for and what a blog is becayse you read it. But nothing replaces the actual experience of having a blog. So are you ready to set up yours?

Janet Beckers challenge turn your passions into profit ends on the 18th of August. And going through a couple of breakthroughs myself, I was wondering if you took the time to participate in this challenge. It has been an incredible experience for me and there were incredible products created, in the most strange conditions. Once lady phoned out of a paid phone because she was traveling. Others shared their products and I am amazed at their creativity. All shows me that women really are extraordinary people, and being the National Women’s Month in South Africa, I think we should celebrate it.

If you have not participated yet, take a risk and participate in the challenge. Even though you might not be interested in creating a product, just sing a song, or explain your day routine. No one will judge you on teh content, but you will experience something that you have not done before,

I wanted to tell you how excited I am for participating in this challenge. I did participate, and if you scroll down you will be able to listen to my audio that I created because of this challenge.
It was a great experience.

In my audio you will learn three important tips:
1-Select a niche market and watch your business soar to success
2 – Get an online presence and a social media presence, or kiss goodbye to your business
3- Two things that every successful person does – Do them or you will be doomed for failure. .

Three things i have learned while doing this audio:

1.How easy it is to do it. And I actually prefer it to writing. Once you do it you become confident and you can do so many things with this. 2. Do not be a perfectionist. Just take action and perfect it later. 3- Do not press delete in a hurry.

Thank you Janet for the opportunity to do this.

If you have not participated yet,, you still have time until the 18th. Participate in this internet marketing seminar and have your first audio product created. Your confidence will soar.

You can watch a video I did about the internet marketing seminar or register for the build your list challenge.
