Do you have a niche market for your coaching practice?
Posted by: | CommentsMany life coaches start their business without having a niche market and then they struggle to get clients.
Selecting a niche market it is crucial to the success of your business.
Many life coaches think that if they work with a specific niche, then they are losing clients, because they cannot help the rest of the world. But nothing can be further from the truth.
Having a niche is like having a goal. If you have a goal, for example the goal of getting to point B then you know how far you are from point B, and you will plan your trip to get to point B in the quickest and more productive way.
But if you did not know that you wanted to get to point B then you will go in circles, because you will probably change your
mind as you go. And you may get there but it will take you a long time.
And I am assuming that as a life coach you know that!
Now, think of selecting a niche in the same way as a goal. If you do not have a niche, you do not know who your potential clients are. You do not know, where to find your potential clients, you will not be able to create a marketing strategy that works. And you will end up going in circles, trying to be everything to everybody. In addition, the potential clients will probably not chose you as a coach, since they are looking for a solution to a specific problem. Imaging when you need to go to a doctor, because you are having a heart problem. Then you would not go to any doctor, you would choose a good cardiologist that specializes in heart problems. So what makes you think that a person looking for a coach would just go to any life coach. If they have a confidence problem then they would more likely choose a coach that specializes in confidence. If that want to grow a business, they would most likely choose a coach that markets himself or herself as a business coach.
So, despite the fact that you may think that you would lose potential clients by choosing a niche, I must stress that you will not. Once you define your niche and you know where to find your clients, your business will start growing. My advise to you, is befor even launching your coaching practice, decide on a niche.
